The “Riesling Weingut Alfons Stoffel” is located in the municipality of Leiwen (Bernkastel area) in the German wine-growing region Moselle
, It was taken over by Alfons Stoffel in the early 1970s. The 4-star guest house “St. Maximin ”connected with four apartments. The vineyards cover four hectares of vineyards in the locations brotherhood
(Köwerich), and monastery garden and Laurentiuslay
(Leiwen). 95% of them are planted with Riesling and some Pinot Blanc. Consistently natural, environmentally friendly viticulture is practiced in the vineyard. After the longest possible vegetation phase, selective harvesting and gentle pressing, slow, temperature-controlled fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks to preserve the aromas. This is followed by an individual maturation on the fine yeasts in traditional wooden powder barrels. If the weather is suitable, an ice wine is also made. A bottle-fermented Riesling sparkling wine is also produced. The winery and guest house have been a certified quality company of the Mosel umbrella brand since March 2010.
