The "Riesling Winery Karl Erbes" is located in the community Ürzig (Bernkastel area) in the German wine-growing region Moselle
, The family business was founded in 1967 by trained cooper master Karl Erbes, since 2002 it has been run by son Stefan as a trained cellar master. The vineyards cover 4.5 hectares of vineyards on partly extremely steep slopes in the individual layers podium
(Earth) and Würzgarten
(Ürzig). They are planted exclusively with root-right, some 70- to 80-year-old Riesling vines. Particular emphasis is placed on low yields and selective hand picking. The wines are traditionally aged in large oak barrels. Around 70% of production is exported to Japan, the Netherlands, Great Britain and the USA.
