The winery is located in the municipality of Manzano (province of Udine) in the Italian region Friuli Venezia Giulia. Its centuries-old origins lie in an estate that was owned by the Counts of Trento for many generations. The wines were delivered to many noble families in the Habsburg Empire of Austria-Hungary and to France. Since 1984 the estate is owned by the Borghese family. It is run by Roberta Borghese, who has gained practical experience at renowned wineries in France, California and Italy. She is supported by her daughters Nicole and Lisa. Ivan Sant is responsible as cellar master.
The total estate covers 40 hectares and is divided into the areas Ronc di Scossai and Ronc di Subule, which surround the wine cellar (20 hectares), and Ronc di Rosazzo (20 hectares). There is also an olive grove. The vineyards cover 20 hectares on marly soil rich in mineral salts, known here as "Ponca". They are planted with the white wine varieties Chardonnay, Friulano(Sauvignonasse), Picolit, Pinot Grigio(Pinot Gris), Ribolla Gialla, Sauvignon Blanc, and the red wine varieties Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pignolo and Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso. A selective manual harvest is carried out in small cassettes.
The product range includes DOC/DOCG wines Colli Orientali del Friuli with sub-range Ribolla Gialla di Rosazzo, Colli Orientali del Friuli Picolit and Rosazzo. The house's premium wines are Friulano (with very low yields from the oldest vineyards, fermented and aged in 45 hl wooden barrels), Ellegri Bianco (cuvée of Friulano, Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Picolit wines fermented in contact with berries) and Merlot Ronc di Subule (with 12 days of maceration and 12 months of ageing in new French barriques). Around 200,000 bottles of wine are produced annually, about half of which are exported to Germany, Switzerland, Poland, Belgium, Australia and Canada. The winery is a member of the Consorzio Italia del Vino association.
