2005 Rosso Piceno DOC Vigna Cacià, Marches, Italy

Slightly dissolute nose, not totally clear, open, with black berries and some cherries, light herbaceous notes, some instant stock, animal traces, smoky oak. Tart but also sweetish dark fruit on the palate, light rubbery notes, more tart roasted oak, sooty, old nuts, astringent tannins, noticeable alcohol, vegetal and earthy notes, bitter and slightly sharp on an otherwise attractive finish. The wine is showing an unfavourable development.

Harmonious, tranquil mixed berry fruit on the palate, slightly bitter and tart herbaceous notes, delicate spice, compact and fairly complex, fairly prominent and slightly dusty tannins, has character and substance, quite cool, astringent on an otherwise good finish.
