The white grape comes from the border area Italy (Gorizia) - Slovenia (Goricia). There are over 30 Synonyms, some of them are Piccoleto, Piccolit, Piccolito, Piccolito Bianco, Piccolito del Friuli, Picolit Bianco, Piculit and Pikolit. According to several from 2007 to 2011 DNA analysis the two Hungarian varieties, which until then were often regarded as identical Balafánt and Kéknyelü recognized as independent.
