2001 Oltrepò Pavese DOC Pinot Nero Noir, Lombardy, Italy

Sweetish oak with chocolate notes on the nose, red berries and delicate spice. Fairly light-bodied, clean, slightly tart red berry fruit with light sweetish oak, prominent, polished but also slightly astringent tannins, attractive to good finish. Very modern style, at the expense of varietal character and origin.
