The estate is located in the municipality of Meersburg (Lake Constance) above the Meersburg Lake Constance harbor in the German wine-growing region to bathe, The historic buildings and vineyards come from the former property of the Prince-Bishops of Constance. In 1802/1803 the winery was replaced by the Napoleonic Secularization first "Grand Ducal Domänenkellerei Meersburg" and in 1919 finally State Winery of the State of Baden-Wuerttemberg. The Reithof now houses the wine sales, the winery and the estate administration. Attached is a Gutsschänke with a view of the lake and the Alps. Managing Director is Dr. Jürgen Dietrich, cellar master is Harald Gutemann.

The vineyards cover 63 hectares of vineyards in the individual layers urchin, Chorherrenhalde, Lerchenberg, Jungfernstieg and Rieschen (Sea Burg), Olga Berg (at Hohentwiel, 560 meters above sea level highest vineyard Germany), as well as Ritterhalde (Gailingen). Most of these locations are in sole ownership. They are planted with the white varieties Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Riesling, Müller-Thurgau and Traminer, and the red varieties Pinot Noir and Regent. The wines are produced in the three lines Gutsweine (in Bordeaux bottles), Lagenweine (in Burgundy and Schlegel bottles) and premium wines from the best plots with extremely low yield (3 stars on the label). In the vaulted cellar already built in 1720 under the reign of Prince Bishop von Stauffenberg (1658-1740), the wines mature, with great emphasis on the natural character of each terroir. The white and white wines are slowly and cool fermented to preserve their typical fruitiness and lightness. The red wines are aged in large oak barrels or in French oak barrels. The winery is a member of the association Bodenseewein.
