2013 Taurasi DOCG Fren, Campania, Italy

Tart nose, black berries, some tobacco, pepper and a hint of licorice, hint of animal notes, earthy and dried vegetal notes. Ripe, tart and juicy dark fruit with some dark chocolate, cardamom and a hint of pepper, light acid bite, fine, fairly prominent tannins, good substance and persistence, some salt in the background, greasy notes and some dried herbs, restrained power, good depth, quite complex, very good, firm, tart and juicy finish with a lot of draft.
