The training center for fruit and wine growing and the Silberberg winery is located in Kogelberg near Leibnitz in the südsteiermark (Austria). The name comes from the former owner Count Heinrich von Silberberg. Through marriage in the family of Messrs. Von Leibnitz, Count Heinrich von Silberberg came to the site of today's wine-growing school in 1331. Silberberg is divided into the areas of fruit and wine growing school and state winery. Silberberg is also one of the test centers for the State test number probelms. In 1985 the five Styrian estates Silberberg, Kitzeck, Schlossberg, Remschnigg and Glanz were combined to form the "Styrian state winery Silberberg". A new white wine cellar was also built this year. Responsible for the operation are oenologist Ing. Reinhold Holler, cellar master Klaus Fischer and wine master Johann Schwarz. The vineyards cover around 26 hectares of vineyards, 90% of which are made with white wines . Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Blanc ( Pinot Blanc ) Chardonnay ( Morillon ) muscatel, Pinot Gris ( Pinot gris ) Riesling, Rivaner ( Müller-Thurgau ) Muscaris and Souvignier Gris, as well as 10% with the red wine varieties Zweigelt and Cabernet Jura are planted. Only grapes from our own vineyards are pressed. The wines are available in three lines. The “classic wines” are aged without the use of wood. For strong wines such as Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Blanc, old wooden barrels are used in the expansion.
