The winery "Tarucco - Azienda Agricola Geraci" is located in Bisacquino - Contessa Entellina in the province of Palermo in Sicily, Once there was a 14th-century castle called "Feudo Tarucco". In the 18th century, a country house was built with a winery called "Case Langer". In 1920 the property was acquired by the Geraci family. Today he is led by Antonella and Stefano Geraci. The vineyards cover 15 hectares of vineyards on sandy, loamy and calcareous soils at an altitude between 400 and 480 meters. The terroir was named after the former castle as "Tarucco". Here are the white wine varieties Chardonnay, Grecanico Dorato ( Garganega ) and Grillo, as well as the red wines Alicante Henri Bouschet. Cabernet Sauvignon. Merlot. Nero d'Avola and Syrah cultivated. On three hectares are olive trees for the production of olive oil.
Vinification is the responsibility of oenologist Donato Lanati from Piedmont. Premium wines are Tarucco Peralta (Nero d'Avola, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon), Tarucco Alicante, Tarucco Nero d'Avola and Tarucco Syrah, each aged for 12 months in Barrique, and Cuvées Tarucco Gioeni (Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Alicante Bouschet) and Tarucco Colonna (Grillo, Greco Dorato, Chardonnay). The label adorns a woman perched on the Trinacria (ancient name of Sicily). Every year around 120,000 bottles of wine are produced.
