DOC area for white, red and rosé wines in the central east of the Italian region Tuscany, which is named after the eponymous municipality on the Livornian coast. The end of the 1990s, just under 200 hectares of vineyards now comprise more than 1,100 hectares around the municipality of Castagneto Carducci in the province of Livorno. This was named after the poet and literary historian Giosuè Carducci (1835-1907), who spent his childhood there. Bolgheri is an eight kilometer north of it lying district, which includes the nature reserve Oasi di Bolgheri. Among the best known and largest producers belong Antinori and Gaja,
