The estate is located in the municipality of Páganos (Laguardia) in the Spanish Rioja sub-area Rioja Alavesa
, It was founded in 1987 by Cuban Leandro Vázquez. In 1995 it was taken over by the group La Rioja Alta
Bought. The vineyards cover 50 hectares of vineyards, in the middle of which stands a neoclassical Palacio. 4,000 oak barrels are available for expansion. The wine is marketed under the Barón de Oña
label. The Reserva is blended from 95% Tempranillo and 5% Mazuelo. It matures in American barrels for 16 months, then in French barrels for another 8 months, and then in bottles for another two years. The average age of the barrels is three years. Around a third of the production is exported.
