2005 Irpinia IGT Melange Rosso, Campania, Italy

Overripe black fruit on the nose, prominent spicy oak, fairly prominent malted notes, chocolate, sooty and roasted notes, coffee and cereals. Quite concentrated and full-bodied on the palate, overripe fruit, loads of oak, quite fine ,but slightly brittle tannins, compact, almost monolithic structure, slightly persistent, but not a lot of real depth, appears slightly constructed, attractive to good finish.
