2010 Barolo DOCG Riserva La Volta, Piedmont, Italy

Developed, tobacco and slightly tarry nose, more black than red berries, smoky notes, some morels and other wild mushrooms, undergrowth, hint of charcoal, dried floral, leathery and earthy notes. Firm, ripe, dark fruit, some cola nut, pepper, dried flowers, cocoa and orange zest, present but crumbly tannin, ethereal spice, a little tar in the background, lots of crumbly tannin, some acid bite, persistent, quite dense, ripe but not old, salty tones, a hint of cola nut, herbal notes, very good, quite complex, juicy and spicy finish.

Straffe, saftige, teils eingemacht wirkende, mit Luft zunehmend frisch wirkende Frucht mit präsenten, feinsandiges, noch ganz leicht trocknenden Tanninen, pflanzliche und pfeffrige Aromen, etwas Wurzelgemüse, kreidige Töne im Hintergrund, gute Nachhaltigkeit und Tiefe, hat Kraft, aber auch viel Schliff, nussige Aromen, etwas Lorbeer, ein Hauch Zitruszesten, sehr guter, herb-saftiger Abgang mit Salznoten.
