DOC area for a wide range of red, rosé and white wines in the Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, The zone comprises 36 municipalities in the province of Pordenone and 58 municipalities in the province of Udine. The name is derived (as with Graves in the Bordeaux ) due to the predominant gravel and rubble alluvial soil in the valleys of the rivers Judrio, Livenza, Meduna, Natisone, Tagliamento and Torre. The area extends from the plain at Livenza (border river to the region to the west Veneto ) to the DOC area to the east Colli Orientali del Friuli, The eastern part is cooler and wetter...
