DO area for reds and whites in the northwest of the Spanish Province of Ourense in ( Galicia ) near the Portuguese border. The name means "shore land". To the north is Santiago de Compostela, one of the most famous Christian sanctuaries, where the tomb of the Apostle James is said to be. From several starting points in Europe, the place is the final destination of several pilgrimage routes; for the wedding in the Middle Ages, there were up to two million pilgrims annually. Already in the 16th century, wines were exported from here to Italy and England under the name Ribadavia (the main place of the area). It was all about Tostadillos (Dessert)....

The white grape variety comes from Spain. Synonyms are Agodenho, Agudelha, Agudelho, Agudenho, Gouveio as the second main name, Verdelho, Verdelho Branco, Verdelho do Dão ( Portugal ); Agodello, Berdello, Godelho, Godella, Godenho, Ojo de Gallo, Prieto Picudo Blanco, Trincadente ( Spain ); and a number of other names that confusingly point to the varieties listed below. The old variety most probably comes from the banks of the Río Sil in Galicia, in northwestern Spain. It was first mentioned in 1531 by the Ampelographen Rui Fernandes under Agudelho and Trincadente in the Portguguese Douro.

The white grape comes from Spain, According to DNA analysis There are close relationships with the two varieties Trajadura and Viosinho, The descent (parenthood) is unknown. The medium to late ripening vine is prone to Botrytis and both mildews, It produces fresh, acidic white wines with a neutral taste, which serve as a blend. The variety is in the fields Ribeiro and valdeorras in Galicia cultivated on just one hectare with an upward trend.
