The "Wachtenburg Winzer eG" based in the municipality Wachenheim (area Mittelhaardt-German Wine Route) in the German wine-growing region palatinate was founded in 1900 by 53 Palatinate winemakers wine cooperative founded. The eponymous castle as a landmark of the community emblazoned on the bottle label. The first chairman is Walter Reichardt, as winemaker Werner Reichert is responsible. Today, 58 winegrower families manage a total of 335 hectares of vineyards in the individual layers Altenburg, Bischofsgarten, Böhlig, fox coat. junk. Königswingert, Luginsland, Almond Garden, Pechstein and Schlossberg, as well as Enormous (Forst). They are the white varieties Riesling (main variety), Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc Grauburgunder, Gewürztraminer, Kerner, Morio-Muscat, Müller-Thurgau, Scheurebe, Huxelrebe and Silvaner, and the red varieties Pinot Noir, Frühburgunder, Dornfelder, Acolon, Regent, St. Laurent, Blaufränkisch , Portugieser, Schwarzriesling, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot planted.

Quality criteria are defined for the winegrowing enterprises. The vineyards are recalculated one day before harvest by an external consultant to guarantee healthy and fully ripe grapes. For the "Premium" line only grapes from at least 15 years old vines may be delivered. In addition, the vineyards must be completely halved, the grape yield may amount to a maximum of 7,000 kg / ha or a maximum of 5,000 liters. For the "Selective read" line, the yield is limited to 10,000 kg without any compulsory halving. The large product range includes white, rosé and red wines in the lines liter wines, varietal wines, Selektive and premium wines, and Secco (sparkling wines) and bottle-fermented vintage sect. In weather-appropriate years are also Wines from Beerenauslese to Eiswein produced.

Special grape qualities can be processed very gently without pumping. The white wines are completely curdled and fermented refrigerated. The fermentation takes place partly spontaneous and partly with pure culture yeasts. Basically, the longest possible sought. For semi-dry and residual sweet wines, if necessary, stopping the fermentation, The white wines are filled with a Gleichdruckfüller, so that the wine in the bottling almost never comes in contact with oxygen and before closing with carbon dioxide is superimposed. Most of the red wines are fermented on the mash via a combination fermenter or diver. The expansion of the wines takes place partly in wooden barrels of German oak between 2,000 and 8,000 liters barrel volume, and partly in barrels of Palatine and French oak for the more intense and full-bodied red wines. The company is a member of Barrique Forum Palatinate and at the union of Palatine winegrower cooperatives.
