Editor note: Nutty nose, light earthy and vegetal notes, must apples and some stone fruit, yellow flowers, hint of rubber. Bone dry fruit on the palate, nutty and light yeasty aromas, dried vegetal notes, very elegant acidity, mineral notes in the background, fairly firm structure, excellent substance in spite of the low level of alcohol, hint of rubber again in the background, very slightly muted, good, tart, nutty finish.
Best to drink: To 2018+

The wine region is in the south Hungary close to the border too Croatia and is named after the city of the same name (until 1999 the area was called Villány-Siklós). The vineyards cover around 2,300 hectares of vineyards. Under a continental climate with Mediterranean influences, with long, hot summers and cold winters, the vines grow on soils that are mainly limestone and dolomite with loess and loam layers. Around the city of Villány it is mainly the red wine varieties Cabernet Sauvignon. Cabernet Franc, Kékfrankos ( Blaufränkisch ), Kék Portugizi ( Blue Portuguese )...
