, It was founded by the couple Alois and Rita Kiefer in 1950, but the family has been practicing viticulture since the 17th century. The name of the winery is derived from the founder's first name. Today the company is run by the three families Bernhard, Michael and Andreas Kiefer. In 1980 the historic half-timbered building in the center of the village was acquired and expanded to become a residential and business premises. Here, the red wine aging is carried out primarily in oak barrels. The grape acceptance, the expansion of the white wines and the bottling take place outdoors on the outskirts of the village. The vineyards cover 24 hectares of vineyards in the individual layers Baron and Kirchberg (St. Martin). They include the red varieties Portugieser, Dornfelder, Dunkelfelder, Spätburgunder, Schwarzriesling, St. Laurent, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Cubin, as well as the white varieties Riesling, Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Kerner, Gewürztraminer, Silvaner, Morio Muskat , Scheurebe, Huxelrebe and Bacchus planted. Consistently natural, environmentally friendly viticulture is practiced. In suitable years, noble sweet wines are also pressed. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines, brandies (wine, grapes, yeast, pomace, fruit) and liqueurs are also produced.
