The estate is located in the municipality of Konz-Oberemmel (Saar area) in the German wine-growing region Moselle, It is owned by Alfred Kirchen. The vineyards cover 8.5 hectares of vineyards in the individual layers Altenberg, Karlsberg and Rosenberg (Oberemmel) in a wind-protected side valley on the lower course of the Saar. They are planted to 85% with Riesling, as well as the varieties Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir and Dornfelder. Some of the vines are up to 50 years old. Consistently natural, environmentally friendly viticulture is practiced. The aim is wines with natural flavors that reflect the lagoon. There is a slow and gentle up to 12 months spontaneous fermentation with wild yeasts. If the weather is suitable, an ice wine is also made. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines as well as fine spirits (yeast, pomace, fruit) and liqueurs are produced in the in-house distillery.
