2014 Durbach Bienengarten Spätburgunder Spätlese trocken, Baden, Germany

Onion-vegetable nose of overripe mixed berries with cheesy notes, tobacco, herbs, withered flowers, some malt, nuts and noticeable, sharpening alcohol. Slightly slender, tart fruit, drying tannins, sooty and smoky wood notes, slightly sweet on the palate, earthy and bitterly nutty notes, restricted depth, light green tones, slightly burnt oak notes, again lots of alcohol, tidy to good, slightly astringent Finish with notes of cocoa.
