2011 Assmannshausen Höllenberg Spätburgunder Grosses Gewächs trocken, Rheingau, Germany

Tart and quite cool, taut cassis scent with fine red berry and floral tones, herbal nuances, a little tobacco, air-dried ham, some tobacco and distinct minerality. Firmly woven, deep and juicy in the mouth, very ripe and yet cool fruit with tobacco and clearly mineral flavours, peppery-spicy in the background, very fine, still youthful tannin, melting on the palate, but also fine bite, certain depth, salty tones, quite complex, delicately chocolaty and coffee-spicy in the background, very good to long finish
