2003 Südtirol / Alto Adige DOC Lagrein Carano, Alto Adige, Italy

Slightly fleshy nose, roasted and smoky notes, blackberries, sour cherries some blackcurrants and violets. Dark fruit and roasted oak, more blackcurrants, well integrated tannins with good presence, dark chocolate and again a hint of violets on the palate, good persistence, nicely balanced, but very much in an international style hardly identifiable as a Lagrein, black berries and dark chocolate on the finish.
