2005 Südtirol / Alto Adige DOC Exilissi, Alto Adige, Italy

Mature nose, tartm spicy and nutty, partly dried lychee and melon, vegetal notes, dried flowers and some waxy notes. Concentrated, spicy and complex on the palate, full-bodied, but also rather high in alcohol, and not easy to take, elegant acidity, loads of sugar candy, dried fruit, rosewood and dried rose petals, characteristic bitter touch, persistent and has some depth, slightly rustic style, but intrusive alcohol, oak and sugar candy on a very good finish.

Editor note: Overripe notes on the nose with light volatile notes, herbaceous notes and tea leaves. Surprisingly filigree on the palate, some preserved apples and herbaceous notes, some preserved pears and medlar, noticeable, slightly sharp alcohol, some tannins, big, powerful wine, fruit initially subdued but develops with aeration, needs time, appears lighter than it really is, light hint of roses on an attractive to good finish.
