The winery is located in the municipality of Großkrut in the north-east of the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of
Weinviertel. It was founded in the early 1980s by Dr. Monika and Dr. Heribert Späth. After his training at the HBLA Klosterneuburg, the business has been run by their son Benjamin Späth since the summer of 2005. The vineyards cover ten hectares of vineyards in the Lissen, Tiefenthal, Wartberg and Wiesbergen vineyards. They are 70% planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Welschriesling, and 30% with the red wine varieties Zweigelt, Blauburgunder, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and St. Laurent. The environmentally friendly cultivation is carried out according to the guidelines of the
KIP (Controlled Integrated Production). The quality standard is based on strict yield restriction, manual harvesting and gentle grape processing according to the principle of using the gradient from top to bottom. Depending on the desired style, the wines are matured in steel tanks, large wooden barrels or barriques and only bottled at the optimal time. The premium wines include various
Weinviertel DAC (Grüner Veltliner), Gemischter Satz Alter Weingarten, Zweigelt Classic and the red wine cuvée "bin 341" (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir). In years with suitable weather conditions, ice wines are also produced. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced.
