The "Weingut Benzinger" is located in the municipality Kirchheim ad Weinstraße (area Mittelhaardt-German Wine Route) in the German region Pfalz. The foundations of the traditional Leiningerhof come from the end of the 16th century. The estate's own "Benzingers Restaurant" offers regionally influenced Palatinate dishes and its own wines. The family business is run by Volker (oecology degree in Geisenheim
) and Inge Benzinger. Daughter Julia is responsible as a trained winegrower for the wine production. The vineyards cover 13 hectares of vineyards in the individual layers Geißkopf, cross, Roman road and Steinacker (Kirchheim), Schlossberg and gold mine (Bockenheim) and Schnepp (Obersülzen). They are two-thirds of the white varieties Riesling, Sylvaner, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Auxerrois and Sauvignon Blanc, and a third of the red varieties Pinot Noir, Dornfelder, Portuguese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot planted.
There is an environmentally friendly management with greening
(Flowers and herbs), purely mechanical removal of weeds, exclusively organic fertilization
and pest control with mainly Plant strengtheners
, Most of the grape harvest is done by hand. The transport of the grape material is carried out carefully without pumping and squeezing operations by means of conveyor belt. The character of the wines should be through a spontaneous fermentation
preserve and emphasize the origin. The premium wines include "Kreuz Sylvaner - Alte Reben", "STEINACKER Riesling Kalkmergel", "STEINACKER Riesling", "August - der Rote" and "KREUZ Pinot noir - non filtré". Every year around 100,000 bottles of wine are produced. The winery is a member of the associations Generation Riesling and Generation Pfalz.
