The “Weingut Benzinger” is located in the municipality of Kirchheim ad Weinstraße (Mittelhaardt-Deutsche Weinstraße area) in the Palatinate wine-growing region in Germany. The foundations of the traditional Leiningerhof date from the end of the 16th century. In the estate's own “Benzingers Restaurant”, regional Palatinate dishes and their own wines are offered. The family business is run by Volker (oenology studies in Geisenheim
) and Inge Benzinger. As a trained winegrower, daughter Julia is also responsible for the wine-growing. The vineyards cover 13 hectares of vines in the individual layers Geißkopf, Kreuz, Römerstraße and Steinacker (Kirchheim), Schlossberg and Goldgrube (Bockenheim) and Schnepp (Obersülzen). Two thirds of them are planted with the white varieties Riesling, Sylvaner, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Auxerrois and Sauvignon Blanc, and one third with the red varieties Pinot Noir, Dornfelder, Portuguese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
Environmentally friendly management is carried out with greening
(Flowers and herbs), purely mechanical removal of weeds, exclusively organic fertilization
and pest control with mainly Plant strengtheners
, The harvest is largely by hand. The grape material is transported carefully using a conveyor belt without pumping and squeezing. The character of the wines should be determined by a spontaneous fermentation
remain intact and emphasize the origin. The premium wines include "Kreuz Sylvaner - Alte Reben", "STEINACKER Riesling Kalkmergel", "STEINACKER Riesling", "August - der Rote" and "KREUZ Pinot noir - non filtré". Around 100,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. The winery is a member of the Generation Riesling and Generation Pfalz associations.
