2012 trocken Monachus, Burgenland, Austria

Fairly mature nose, spicy oak, predomnantly black berries, hint of bacon, dried vegetal notes, black olives and bay leaf. Ripe, fairly juicy dark fruit on the palate, prominent sooty, smoky oak, some bacon, more bay leaf and some juniper, black olives, good persistence, fine sandy, slightly astringent tannins, noticeable high alcohol, salty notes in the background, rather rustic style, more high alcohol, oak and bacon on a very good, tart, juicy, salty, herbaceous finish.
