The estate is located in the commune of Schweigen (Südliche Weinstraße district) in the German wine-growing region palatinate on the border with Alsace. The first cornerstone was laid around 1900 with the purchase of vineyards in Wissembourg. That is why two thirds of the vineyards are on Alsatian soil. In addition to earlier livestock and arable farming, family winegrowing has existed for over 100 years, but the marketing of bottled wine only began in 1971. The company is run by Gerd Bernhart.
