The winery is located in the municipality of Herxheim am Berg (Mittelhaardt-Deutsche Weinstraße area) in the German wine-growing region of Pfalz. The traditional family has been growing grapes here since 1697. Today, the farm is run by Edwin and Martina Bohnenstiel. A holiday flat is also attached. There are annual events such as vintage presentations, wine walks in the Himmelreich and the autumn festival. The vineyards cover 12 hectares of vineyards in the Himmelreich, Honigsack and Kirchenstück (Herxheim) single vineyard sites with limestone marl and loamy sand soils. They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau and Gelber Muskateller, as well as with the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Dornfelder, Merlot, St. Laurent, Cabernet Sauvignon, Acolon and Blauer Portugieser. The vineyards are cultivated in a natural, environmentally friendly way

The red wines are vinified in the traditional way. After the classic mash fermentation with the aim of achieving a high colour intensity, they are partly matured in barrique. The must of the white wines is consistently pre-clarified at the must stage. The three-week fermentation takes place at a cool temperature below 18 °Celsius with the aim of producing fruity and pure wines. The premium wines are made from yield-reduced grapes selected by hand. These include Riesling Spätlese trocken - Im Wermuth, Weißburgunder trocken - Mahlstein and Spätburgunder trocken - Felsenberg, which matures on its lees for at least 12 months in wooden barrels. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines, noble brandies (pomace, grape), vintner's vinegar and wine jelly are also produced. Around 80,000 bottles of wine are produced annually
