2015 Südtirol / Alto Adige DOC Merlot Nussleiten, Alto Adige, Italy

Smoky, toasted notes on the nose, hint of tobacco and bacon, partly dried and preserved black berries, dried meaty and cedary notes, light peppery notes. Firm, ripe, tart, juicy fruit on the palate, smoky oak, some coffee, tobacco and pepper, touch of dried herbs and some salty mineral notes in the background, noticeable high alcohol, but also has some bite, fine sandy, youthful tannins, sooty traces and some licorice, some depth, hint of citrus zests, very good firm, juicy, spicy, gripping finish.
