2005 Ihringen Winklerberg Grauburgunder Spätlese trocken ***, Baden, Germany

Mature nose, partly dried and preserved pomaceous fruit, spicy vegetal notes, light mineral notes, and light nutty notes. Full-bodied and tart on the palate, ripe fruit with vegetal and earthy notes, fairly prominent, elegant acidity, elegant carbon dioxide, persistent, nutty notes, light salty and herbaceous traces, fairly mature, very good long finish.

Editor note: Slightly artificial nose, apples, develops sweet and spicy notes with aeration, vegetal and floral notes. A little artificial again on the palate, sweetish fruit, elegant acidity, quite lively, floral and vegetal notes, noticeable alcohol that settles down well with aeration, fairly creamy, mineral traces, beomes more juicy and gains depth with a lot of time in the glass, good finish. At this stage it needs days to show its true quality.
