The estate is located in the commune of Birkweiler (Südliche Weinstraße area) in the German wine-growing region palatinate, It was founded after the First World War by Karl Wehrheim, who introduced bottling at a very early age. His son Dr. Heinz Wehrheim continued to expand the business. After completing a degree in general agricultural science and a practical year in the USA, the estate has been managed by the third generation of the family since 1992 by graduate agricultural engineer Karl-Heinz Wehrheim. The fourth generation is already working in the company. The vineyards in 30% steep locations cover a total of 14 hectares of vineyards in 11 different plots. The majority of it is in the Birkweiler individual layers Kastanienbusch (7 ha) and Mandelberg (1.6 ha Pinot Blanc). They are planted with the white varieties Riesling (45%), Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Silvaner, Gewürztraminer and Muskateller, as well as with the red varieties Pinot Noir, St. Laurent, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

The vineyards are cultivated according to the guidelines of the Biodynamic viticulture farmed. Depending on the type of wine, the wines are aged in steel tanks or in wooden barrels. The goals are fine aroma, fruity tartaric acid and very good shelf life. The natural aromas are to be rounded off by the metered use of (mandatory for red wines) barrique. The wines from the two VDP-classified Layers of chestnut bush and almond mountain are considered Big plant marketed. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines and brandies (pomace, fruit, wine) are also produced. The winery is a member of VDP (Verband deutscher Prädikatsweingüter), founding member of the Association Sektgüter Rheinpfalz (VSR) and member of five friends from the southern Palatinate.
