The winery is located in the municipality of Schützen am Gebirge in the Burgenland DAC area of
Leithaberg (Austria). It has been managed by the Prieler family for over 150 years. Silvia (PhD microbiologist) and Georg Prieler are the cellar masters, Irmgard and Engelbert Prieler are responsible for the vineyard management. The company motto is:
We want to remain as we are in all important areas - so small, so fine and so distinctive. We want to make wines that will be remembered and that stand out for their characteristic liveliness. Our wines are independent, shaped by the character of the variety and committed to the Burgenland terroir. The vineyards cover 20 hectares of vineyards in the
Goldberg, Johanneshöhe, Seeberg, Sinner and Ungerbergen areas. They are planted 70% with the red wine varieties
Blaufränkisch, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and St. Laurent, and 30% with the white wine varieties Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay and Welschriesling. The average yield is 3,500 litres per hectare. The flagship of the house is the Goldberg
Blaufränkisch, aged for 26 months in barrique. Around 90,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. The winery is a member of
11 Frauen & ihre Weine and Leithaberg.
