International wine company based in Burg Layen (Rümmelsheim) in Rheinland-Pfalz, The family Pieroth is already mentioned since the year 1675 and operates at Bingen in the growing area Near also a private winery. In 1906 Ferdinand Pieroth called in his diary viticulture as the main source of income of his farm. His son Philipp Ferdinand Pieroth filled wine in 1926 for the first time in the history of the house bottles from. The winery is run today by Katharina Pieroth. The vineyards cover 25 hectares of vineyards in the individual layers Goldloch and Pittermännchen (Dorsheim) Pittersberg (Muenster), Schlossberg (Castle Layen) and in sole ownership Römerberg (Bingerbrück).

In 1953, the brothers Kuno and Elmar Pieroth developed a completely new kind of wine marketing. They started by offering their wines directly to the customer in the form of a tasting at home. Pieroth was the first winery in Germany who sold his wines through direct sales. In 1985 the company was in the wine scandal involved in crying the antifreeze glycol was buried. Due to high sales losses she was close to bankruptcy. Therefore the name was changed to "WIV Wein International AG". In 2018, however, the company returned to its roots and renamed Pieroth again.
