International wine company based in Burg Layen (Rümmelsheim) in Rheinland-Pfalz, The Pieroth family has been mentioned in records since 1675 and operates at Bingen in the growing area Near also own winery. In 1906 Ferdinand Pieroth named viticulture as the main source of income for his company. His son Philipp Ferdinand Pieroth refilled wine for the first time in the history of the house in 1926 bottles from. The winery is now run by Katharina Pieroth. The vineyards cover 25 hectares of vineyards in individual locations Goldloch and Pittermännchen (Dorsheim) Pittersberg (Muenster), Schlossberg (Layen Castle) as well as Römerberg (Bingerbrück).

In 1953, the brothers Kuno and Elmar Pieroth developed what was then a completely new way of marketing wine. They started offering their wines directly to the customer in the form of a tasting at home. Pieroth was the first winery in Germany, which sold its wines through direct sales. In 1985 the company was in the wine scandal involved in the crying, the antifreeze glycol was added. Due to high sales losses, she was on the verge of bankruptcy. Therefore the name was changed to "WIV Wein International AG". In 2018, the company returned to its roots and changed its name to Pieroth.
