The Franz Zottlöderer winery is located in the municipality of Strass in the Strassertale in the Lower Austrian wine-growing region Kamptal, The company was one of the first in Austria to deal specifically with the expansion of barriques. The vineyards cover eight hectares of vineyards in the renowned vineyards Gaisberg. hazel, Sand pit and Wechselberg on loess, clay, bedrock, gravel and heavy limestone soils. They are 80% planted with the white varieties Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Chardonnay, Neuburger, Pinot Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc, and 20% with the red varieties Blauer Portugieser and Zweigelt. It is traditionally aged in large wooden barrels and in barriques. The main focus is placed on wines that are typical of the variety and region and can be stored. Premium wines include Neuburger Strasser Gaisberg, Chardonnay Strasser Wechselberg, Riesling Strasser Gaisberg, Grüner Veltliner Strasser Gaisberg and Grüner Veltliner Strasser Hasel. Fine brandies (grapes, pomace, fruit, wine) are also produced. Bottle-fermented Riesling sparkling wines are also produced. In the vinotheque, wines from the vintage 1960 are offered.
