, The history of Barons Langwerth of Simmern dates back to the year 1464. Johann Langwerth von Simmern was entrusted for his services as chancellor of Duke Ludwig von Pfalz-Zweibrücken with 32 and 2/3 acres "Hattenheimer Mannberg". The family moved to Eltville in 1711. By purchase of the Lichtenstern'schen yard in 1753, the foundation of the present estate was laid. Today's owner is Georg R. Freiherr Langwerth von Simmern. The vineyards cover 30 hectares of vineyards in the individual layers Baiken
(Had home), Sandgrub
(Kiedrich), as well as Rheinberg and Sonnenberg
(Eltville). They are for the most part with the Riesling (25 ha), the rest of the varieties Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir and Chardonnay planted. The Rieslings are developed exclusively in steel tanks. It also produces brandy and bottle-fermented sparkling wine. The winery is a member of VDP
(Verband deutscher Prädikatsweingüter).
