The estate is located in the Oestrich-Winkel municipality in the German wine-growing region Rheingau, The history of the traditional family goes back to the 13th century. The foundation stone for today's operations was laid in 1773 by Philipp Anton Allendorf. In 1955, the vineyards covered just 1.5 hectares. With around 70 hectares today, it is the largest family-run wine company in the Rheingau. The "Brentanohaus" restaurant, built in 1751 in the center of Winkel, has been in operation since 2015, where Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749-1832) and Jacob (1785-1863) and Wilhelm Grimm (1786-1859) were guests.
The winery is run by Ulrich Allendorf and his sister Christine Schönleber. Josef Schönleber (brother-in-law of the owner) is responsible as operations manager and Max Schönleber as cellar master. The vineyards are located in the individual layers of Hinterkirch and Höllenberg ( Assmannshausen ) Mount Roseneck. Mount Rottland (Rüdesheim), as well Dachsberg. Hasensprung and Jesuitengarten (Angle). You are with the white wines Riesling, Pinot Gris ( Pinot gris ) Chardonnay and Gewurztraminer, as well as with the red wine varieties Pinot Noir ( Pinot Noir ) and Schwarziesling ( Pinot Meunier ) planted.
The wines are measured according to the VDP classification in the quality lines Treasury Wines (selected premium wines of special quality, gold capsule), wines from the vineyard (maximum three top locations from each district, Riesling or Pinot Noir), local wines (only one brand, Riesling or Pinot Noir) and estate wines (all varieties, all layers) marketed. The Big plants are Rieslings from the VDP-classified Big locations. The flagship of the house is the red wine "Quercus Superior Pinot Noir" aged in 100% new barriques Trockenbeerenauslese and Eiswein vinified. There are also bottle-fermented sparkling wines, fine brandies (wine, pomace, raspberry, pear) and grape juice offered.
A specialty is the "Wein.Erlebnis.Welt", with which winery visitors can get to know the variety and range of aromas and flavors of the different wines during special wine tastings.
