The Princely House has been growing wine for more than four centuries, first for the principality at that time, later for the national and international market. The vineyards are located in three German growing regions, namely Franconia, Rheingau and Baden. In 2010, the princely wine production sites were merged into the castle grounds of Kleinheubach, where the family's current ancestral home in Löwenstein Castle is also located. The state-of-the-art wine cellar was established in the former Marstall, a baroque sandstone building from the 18th century. Behind the historic building, two new buildings constructed entirely of wood complete the winery ensemble: the wine press hall with a sensory room, vinotheque and offices, as well as the wine warehouse.

Fürst Löwenstein - Schloss Panorama

Since 2010, vinification has been carried out as a castle bottling in Franconia at the new Kleinheubach location. After the early death of Hereditary Prince Carl Friedrich, his wife Dr. Hereditary Princess Stephanie zu Löwenstein took over the management of the Fürstlich Löwenstein group of companies. The winery manager is Peter Arnold from Geisenheim, who has international experience (Spain, South Africa). Martin Armend (Franconia, Baden) and Henning Brömser (Rheingau) are responsible for external operations, and Andrea Paul for sales. Through the partners "Châteauform" and "Viking", seminars and conferences are held at Löwenstein Castle, and river cruisers are catered for. The philosophy of the house is: loving, dignity-preserving interpersonal interaction, respect for our habitat and the elements of water, air and earth, as well as sustainablemanagement of forest, grassland, water and vineyards with natural added value.

Fürst Löwenstein - Barriquekeller und Marstall (Edelstahlbehälter)

The vineyards in Franconia cover 15 hectares of vineyards in the site Fürstlicher Homburger Kallmuth, which is under sole ownership and classified by the VDP as Grosses Gewächs and is considered a jewel of the property under monument and nature protection, as well as the site Oberrot (Lengfurt). They are planted with the white wine varieties Silvaner (two thirds), Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc, as well as with the red wine varieties Zweigelt and Pinot Noir.

Fürst Löwenstein - Homburger Kallmuth und Schloss Löwenstein

The vineyard in the municipality of Oestrich-Winkel in the Rheingau, which has existed since 1736, was acquired by the Princely House in 1875. Until 1997 it was leased to Schloss Vollrads, since when it has been run by the Princely House itself. The vineyards cover a total of 22 hectares in the Jungfer, Hendelberg and Schönhell (Hallgarten) vineyards. Of 7.5 hectares, the estate produces its own wine, the rest is leased out. They are planted with the varieties Riesling (80%), as well as Frühburgunder and Spätburgunder (20%). The highest priority is given to gentle, natural grape harvesting and origin-oriented production of the wines. The quality pyramid corresponds to the VDP classification model. In the Baden growing region, the 7 hectares of vineyards in the two single vineyards Josefsberg and Kemelrain (Bronnbach) are leased out cooperatively.

Bottle-fermented sparkling wine and Secco, as well as Franconian Balsamico, are also produced from basic wines from both growing areas. The most important certification is the membership in the European Association of "Wildlife Estates" and the "Naturelife Philosophy" commitment. There are memberships in the regional winegrowers' associations, the Silvaner Forum and the Friends of TRIAS Wine Est ates, as well as for Franconia and Rheingau the VDP membership (Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates), some of which has been in existence for 100 years.
