Editor note: Tart nose, meaty venison notes, black berries and cherries, light dried vegetal, peppery and earthy notes. Oak and smoked bacon on the palate, preserved fruit, herbaceous notes, burnt nuts, fairly lively acidity, youthful tannins, noticeable alcohol, good persistence, slightly rustic style, minty traces in the background, some more peppery notes, also some blood orange and pomegranate, still largely undeveloped, prominent toasted oak, dark chocolate on a very good tart, juicy finish.
Best to drink: 2018-2025+

In Austria, viticulture has been practised since the time of the Celtic settlement almost 3,000 years ago. The Burgenland community of Zagersdorf and the Lower Austrian community of Stillfried in the Weinviertel are considered the oldest winegrowing communities in Austria. In both places grape seeds were found which date from 700 and 900 BC respectively and can be clearly assigned to the species Vitis vinifera.
