Editor note: Firm, tart nose, partlydried vegetal as well as earthy notes, hint of mushrooms, black berries, light nutty oak, prtominent peppery and mineral notes. Ripe, firm, juicy,dark fruit on the palate, veryl ight toasted oak, spicy and light herbaceous notes, earthyand salty mineral notes, veryfine, veryslightlysandy tannins, good substance and persistence, some depth, creamy, but also has some grip, coffee in the background, hint of tobacco, still quite young, very good ripe, dark, juicy,spicy finish.
Best to drink: To 2024+

The province of Burgenland with the capital Eisenstadt is located in the very east of Austria. It borders Slovakia in the north, Hungary in the east, Slovenia in the south for a few kilometres and the two Austrian provinces of Lower Austria and Styria in the west. Wine-growing has been of great importance here for at least two and a half millennia, which is underlined by the regional variation of the historian Johannes Aventinus (1477-1534)'s saying "Extra Pannoniam non es vita; si est vita, non est ita" (You cannot live outside Pannonia; if you can live, you cannot live like here)....

The red grape variety probably comes from Austria. There are around 40 Synonyms, the most important alphabetically grouped by country are Saint Laurent, Schwarze Lorenztraube, Schwarzer ( Germany ); Saint Laurent ( France ); Blue St. Laurent, Laurenzitraube, Saint Laurent, Saint-Lorentz, Sankt Laurent ( Austria ); Svätovavrinecké ( Slovakia ); Lovricanka, Lovrijenac, Sentlovrenka ( Slovenia ); Svatovavřinecké, Vavrinak, Vavřinecké ( Czech Republic ). The place St. Laurent in Médoc but has no connection with the vine, as was already the case with the ampelograph Victor...
