The winery "Georg Siben Erben" is located in the municipality of Deidesheim (Mittelhaardt-Deutsche Weinstraße area) in the German wine-growing region of Pfalz. It was founded in 1710 by the Siben family, who immigrated from the Netherlands. In 1908, the family was a founding member of the Verein der Naturweinversteigerer der Rheinpfalz (Association of Natural Wine Auctioneers of the Rhine Palatinate), the forerunner of the VDP, of which Wolfgang Siben was chairman from 1967 to 1999. Attached is the restaurant "Siben's Gutsküche". Andreas Siben is the tenth generation of the family to run the winery.
The vineyards cover 12 hectares in the single vineyard sites Grainhübel, Herrgottsacker, Kalkofen, Kieselberg, Langenmorgen, Leinhöhle and Paradiesgarten (Deidesheim), Reiterpfad (Rupperstberg), and Ungeheuer (Forst). They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling (the main variety with 80% of the stock), Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Auxerrois, Gewürztraminer and Muskateller, as well as the red wine varieties Pinot Noir and Regent. Organic viticulture has been practised according to the certified rules of ECOVIN since the early 1990s.
In accordance with the VDP classification model, the wide range of products is divided into four levels: Grosse Gewächse, Erste Lagen, Ortsweine and Gutsweine. As a special feature, select old vintages are offered under the name Schatzkammerweine. In addition, Secco (sparkling wines), bottle-fermented sparkling wines and noble brandies (wine, marc, yeast) are also produced. Around 80,000 bottles of wine are produced annually. The winery is a founding member of the VDP (Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates).
