2000 trocken Cardinal, Burgenland, Austria

Black berries, cherries and a hint of raspberries on the nose, earthy and delicate malted notes, dried vegetal notes, some undergrowth and light cedary notes, spicy oak. Juicy on the palate, more prominent spicy oak, partly mature tannins, but still brittle, dried herbs and some malted notes, sugar candy, spicy notes, touch of caraway in the background, earthy and mineral notes, persistent and has some depth, with aeration shows soup greens, seems to switch between, fruity, vegetal and wood-dominated phases, very good long finish.

Editor note: Fairly mature nose, blackcurrants and some partly dried red berries, earthy and mineral traces, light cedary note, smoky, roasted, spicy notes. Full-bodied on the palate, concentrated and juicy, loads of ripe fruit, prominent but integrated spicy oak, roasted and light sooty notes, some more cedar, fairly prominent fine sandy tannins, persistent, good depth, harmonious, still has potential, very good long finish.
