2004 Leithaberg trocken Marco Polo, Burgenland, Austria

Loads of new oak on the nose, with ripe red berries and some black berries, cinnamon, pepper, tobacco and dried herbs. Prominent peppery notes on the palate, again with lots of toasted oak, pushes the fruit into the background, fairly prominent, quite fine tannins, persistent, mineral traces in the background, firm structure, notes of coffee and some dark chocolate, oak dominates increasingly with aeration, dries out the wine, attractive finish.
