2006 trocken Cardinal, Burgenland, Austria

Firm, somewhat developed, quite dense aroma of ripe predominantly black berries with slightly smoky, bacony wood notes, nutty tones, a touch of leather and peppery traces. Ripe, tightly knit, tangy fruit, again some smoky-roasty wood flavours, a little coffee grounds and bitter chocolate, persistent, ripe tannin and fine bite, has power and good depth, quite distinct salt, surprising freshness, quite complex, hints of ethereal spice, very good, juicy, grippy finish. In excellent condition.

Editor note: Sweetish hint of chocolate on the nose, light tart notes, ripe sour cherries and preserved mixed berries, prominent mineral notes and light herbaceous notes. Clear, firm and juicy on the palate, predominantly dark ripe fruit, light acid bite, prominent tart mineral notes, spicy roasted notes, more partly tart and partly sweetish oaky notes, hint of chocolate, herbs and spices in the background, very persistent, full-bodied, good depth, still youthful, very good finish with tart spicy notes.
