The estate is located in the municipality Birkweiler (area Southern Wine Route) in the German wine-growing region palatinate, The company was built by Franz and Ulrike Gies in 1976. Since 1999, he has been run by the already fourth generation of the family trained as a viticulture technician Volker Gies. From the tasting room you can enjoy an impressive panoramic view of most of the vineyards. These cover 22 hectares of vineyards in the individual layers Kastanienbusch. Mandelberg and Rosenberg (Birkweiler), Seligmacher (Ranschbach), Latt (Albersweiler), Kalmit (Ilbesheim), as well In the sunshine (Siebeldingen).

The Riesling is the leading variety of the farm and dominates with a third of the vineyard mainly on Rotliegendem (Slate, granite, red mudstone), Buntsandstein and Kalktertiär. In the technically modernized cellar with several levels a gentle processing takes place. Only the reds will be in expanded. In order to preserve the natural fruit the Spätburgunder are fermented through the mash after twelve days at the latest. Layer names are used only for the upper quality lines of the four grape varieties Riesling, Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir. Most of these white vineyard wines are aged in large, used wooden barrels. There will also be a Pinot Blanc & Chardonnay sparkling with traditional bottle fermentation produced. The winery is a member of the association "Südpfalz ConneXion".
