2006 St. Magdalener / Santa Maddalena DOC Classico, Alto Adige, Italy

Slightly lactic and unfocused nose, preserved red berries, some tobacco, hint of oak. Soft and mature on the palate, fairly warm fruit, tart oak, nutty and earthy notes, good substance and persistence, but overall somewhat indifferent, attractive finish.

Editor note: Fairly mature, warm nose, red berries, some blackberries and plum, herbaceous notes. Soft and quite supple on the palate, light spicy oak, very fine tannins, fairly creamy, floral and mineral traces, good persistence, very well balanced, currently in excellent condition, good finish.

Editor note: Red berries and blackberries on the nose, herbs and spices, mineral traces and a delicate whiff of almonds. Elegantly juicy on the palate, forest berries, light spicy oak, very slightly smoky, fairly prominent fine tannins, creamy, good persistence, creamy again with noticeable oak on the finish.

Editor note: Ripe red berries on the nose, old oak and vegetal notes, delicate floral notes and some tobacco. Roasted and smoky notes, ripe, partly dried red berries, astringent tannins, some bacon on the palate, fairly full-bodied, not particularly deep, more smoke and bacon on the finish.
