2004 Thermenregion St. Laurent trocken Reserve, Lower Austria/Niederösterreich, Austria

Mixed berries and preserved cherries on the nose, vanilla and some coconut, smoky, spicy oak and some smoked meat. Loads of sweetish and smoky spicy oak on the palate, also some polished and quite juicy mainly red fruit, slightly astringent tannins, noticeable alcohol, smoky notes in the background, light sooty notes, not particularly deep, good finish. We had not expected this, but the wine has come together after all, although the alcohol remains a little high.
