The estate is located in the municipality of Wolkersdorf about 15 kilometers north of the Austrian capital Wien
in the Lower Austrian wine region Weinviertel
, The traditional company has been family-owned since 1690. It has been run by Romana and Walter Erlacher since 2004. Romana, a graduate of the Klosterneuburg
Wine School and Austrian wine queen in 1996/1997, began working in the wine business after studying at the University of Natural Resources and Life and studying abroad (including Nelsons Creek in South Africa). Walter Erlacher is a trained food biotechnologist and ambitious career changer. The vineyards cover 16 hectares of vineyards in the Wolkersdorfer Rieden Kühbühel, Ochsleiten, Stixenkreuter and Roseneck. They are 75% planted with the white varieties Grüner Veltliner (with around 50% of the vineyard area), Pinot Blanc, Chardonnay, Welschriesling, Riesling, Neuburger and Grauburgunder, and 25% with the red varieties Zweigelt, Blauburger and Merlot. Quality criteria are natural management in the vineyard, strict yield limitation and careful hand picking. The main focus is on the Weinviertel lead variety Grüner Veltliner with, for example, Weinviertel DAC. The Burgundy wines mature in large wooden barrels for at least half a year and are marketed under "Premium". Around 45% of the wines are sold ex farm, 15% are exported.
