The estate is located in the Hattenheim municipality in the German wine-growing region Rheingau, The family business is run by Hans Bausch. The vineyards cover ten hectares of vineyards in the individual layers Engelmann mountain and Schützenhaus (Hattenheim), around 60% of the area is considered First crop classified. They are 85% Riesling, the rest are planted with Pinot Noir. It is environmentally friendly viticulture with natural soil management, more permanent greening between the rows of vines, more organic fertilization and minimized crop protection. The are by means of disrupter (Pheromone traps) combats and fungal diseases through measures such as Defoliation the grape zone is reduced. Quality criteria are reduced pruning with reduced yields and later harvest time with the aim of optimally ripening grape material. The Rieslings are fermented cool and with a long storage on the expanded in steel tanks. The Pinot Noir ripen in traditional large wooden barrels or in barriques. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines are also produced.
