2002 Mittelburgenland Blaufränkisch trocken Juwel, Burgenland, Austria

Quite a deep nose with partly dried black and some red berries, herbaceous notes, hint of dried flowers, smoky and roasted notes, prominent mineral notes. Very juicy on the palate, loads of new oak, but also has ample ripe fruit, fairly prominent and very fine tannins, smoky and slightly meaty notes, elegant acid bite, prominent mineral notes again in the background, very good depth, good length. Give it time to mature.
